Songs & Stories from the Emerald Isle:
Ciarán Nagle, founding member of the Three Irish Tenors, brings grace and charm to his beautiful renditions of songs from the Irish repertoire. He is accompanied by his wife Tara Novak on violin and Belfast-born pianist and music director David McGrory.

What I liked about the program was that it was exceptionally well-designed. The audience was allowed to settle in and relax through a series of Irish folk standards, quite literally composing a tour of the Emerald Isle. There’s a good chance that this review will be read by promoters in other cities. Relax: You have booked yourself a class act that will delight every ticket-buyer. I sincerely hope this concert returns to Thunder Bay. I could watch it again and again.

More About Ciarán

Ciarán Nagle has long been a champion of Irish song and culture. He started his career singing Irish-language adaptations of operas and was shortly thereafter cast as the lead singer for Riverdance. Two years later, he returned to Dublin to found the Three Irish Tenors. The Tenors quickly became an international sensation, and Ciarán toured with them extensively, meeting Irish diaspora around the globe.

In 2012, Ciarán became an immigrant himself, moving from Ireland to Boston. This experience compelled him to go even deeper into his Irish roots. He joined the Board of Directors for Boston’s Irish Cultural Centre, gave a lecture series on Irish art song at Boston College, and started hosting a bi-weekly Irish session at a pub in downtown Boston. He also used this time to explore Irish songs which had been neglected in the recent decades, particularly the folk and art songs loved by the great Irish Tenors of the past: John McCormack, Frank Patterson, and Luke Kelly.

Ciarán’s performance is full of charm and wit, as he shares beautiful renditions of Irish art and folk songs, intermingled with poetry and stories. Whether in a small concert venue or stadium, he engages personally with his audience, bringing his infectious laughter and love of the Irish to everyone. He is accompanied by his wife Tara Novak on violin and Belfast-born pianist and music director David McGrory.
